Dropoff/Pickup Information
MORNING DROP OFF
In the morning, families may drive into the schoolyard to drop off their children. Parents/Guardians drive slowly and carefully down the driveway and toward the back of the building. Cars should drive to the edge of the blacktop and make a U-turn in order to drop off the child directly onto the sidewalk next to the school. Parents/Guardians remain in the car and children exit from the passenger side of the car onto the curb. Please do not arrive prior to 8:50 AM. This jams up our parking lot and staff is also unable to park in the back lot when this occurs. If everyone follows this pattern, many cars are able to enter and leave the schoolyard without any traffic problems. Children may not walk through the parking lot. If you wish to park and walk your child to the door you must park out back and walk around the side of the building towards the playground next to Weymouth Health Care. Please do not park and wait in parking spaces as this prevents staff from being able to park. If you are parked in an unmarked space, a member of the office staff will ask you to move your vehicle.
PICK-UP AT DISMISSAL TIME
It is important that you make a plan with your child so that they know where to meet you at the end of the day. Our teachers are happy to help you establish a plan to ensure that each child finds their pick-up person easily. As an extra safety precaution, please remind your child that if they don’t see you at dismissal, they should return to their teacher or the main office.
For safety purposes, the driveway is closed from 3:10 p.m.-3:25p.m. daily (from 11:45 a.m. until 12:00 noon on half days). Parents/Guardians picking up their children have three options of where to meet them:
Option #1: Parents/Guardians may drive around the back of the building and wait in the parent pick-up line to wait for their child to be dismissed through the recess doors (Door 7- near the gym). Cars will be allowed into the schoolyard no earlier than 2:55 p.m. to drive around the back of the building to the back parking lot. Cars need to remain out back until 3:25 p.m. or when directed by a staff member to exit. Parents/Guardians may not move their cars until 3:25 p.m. or until a staff member deems it is safe and appropriate. This is to ensure the safety of all children leaving the school grounds.
Option #2: Parents/Guardians may park on the even side of Middle Street and walk down the driveway to meet their child at the front door. Please do not park in any spots in front or along the side of the school building. Officer Pompeo has also asked that no one park along the soccer field by the stop sign.
Option #3 (Students in Grades 2-5 ONLY): Parents/Guardians of students in grades 2-5 may have their children walk down the driveway and meet them on Middle Street. Cars are only allowed to be parked on the even side of Middle Street. If you plan to meet your child on Middle Street, please inform your child to wait with the crossing guard if you are late. If an adult has not arrived when it is time for the crossing guard to leave, he/she will be walked back to the school office by the crossing guard. We will call you or a person identified by you on the Emergency Contact card. Your child will then need to be picked up at the school office.
-Parents/Guardians may not park at Weymouth Health Care Center (the nursing home behind the school.)
-Parents/Guardians may not park at any other place in the schoolyard during dismissal. (Including parking spots in the front, side lots and the grass along the soccer field.)
